What does it do?

IPDealSource aims to collect, filter, analyze, rank and present intellectual property listings to investors, inventors and entrepreneurs such that development of new or complementary technologies will be expedited and based upon a sound understanding of relevant and related intellectual property.

What's the glitch?

Universities have long been the seat of research and innovation for industries ranging from biotechnology to advanced semiconductors. Further, as major corporations continue to promote their internal R&D efforts, major opportunities exists for synergies between these technologies that have yet to be exploited. University IP routinely sits in commercialization office databases and sees little to no interest from outside investors except in rare cases. Conversely, corporate R&D generally produces better results, but competition and confidentiality prevent sharing in such cases where it might be beneficial. Although the USPTO publicly presents all patents for which corporations apply, little has been done to share this information in a unique and useful way. In this, there currently exists no known repository for university and corporate technologies that could be instrumental in developing new technologies with the help of seasoned investors and entrepreneurs.
